This show was awesome! The actresses were a great ensemble, each really strong in her performance, and the writing was tight and concept interesting. I was engaged the entire time and was surprised by the ending. Lots of laughs and also poignant moments. Just really well done in all elements. This is what Fringe shows are about.
We really enjoyed Escape. The playwright did a great job of mixing suspense with strong character growth, and just the right amount of humor. Strong performances by the ensemble cast too.
The script was fantastic! I could definitely tell it needs some works in blending many different ideas, and the ending worked itself all the way up-and then it ended? The actors were fantastic, and I think this could eventually be a well rounded play or one act!
Really a clever storyline and the actors did a nice job keeping the story moving along. Highly recommended.
As a fan of Escape Rooms, I enjoyed the plot. Really liked how relatable the characters are and how they were developed in the story.
(Full disclosure: Lezlie is a personal friend) The story flows effectively, never losing its sense of focus. The characters were well drawn and the subplots were effectively resolved. I will admit that the ending was a bit confusing, but overall the show held the audience’s attention from beginning to end.
Go Lezlie! It’s so great to see all the women on stage in this play in challenging roles and they slayed!
The stakes should be a lot higher if we’re trying to escape a rigged and dangerous smart house – instead we spend too much time on the personal revelations of the five women who are trapped. These revelations aren’t uninteresting but given the circumstances just seem unimportant to their Escape. The ideas are definitely worthy of exploration though and it was nice seeing some talented and unfamiliar faces onstage. Keep up the good work!
Excellent concept and script. We thought the ‘mom’ especially nailed it the night we saw it. Brilliant all around. I hope this show comes back next year (or perhaps something else from this excellent production company?)
