Description:
When 2020 began, Cody Lindenberger was a lawyer. By the time it ended, he was an Uber driver. In UBER LAWYER the comedian tells the hilariously upsetting and inspiring story of how he learned to find humor in the midst of tragedy and discovered the things that are truly important in life. A multimedia show blending standup comedy, storytelling and audience interaction, UBER LAWYER will teach you a lot about Ubering and a little bit about life.

As a paralegal who drives Uber on weekends, I circled this show on my Fringe program and checked it out last night. I’m glad that I did. Despite a dull start that went way too long (spliced videos of passengers), this spoken word show was heartfelt and entertaining.
Cody Lindenberger was totally right when he said there are three things riders will ask a driver: 1) Have you been busy tonight? 2) How long have you driven Uber? and 3) Has anyone ever thrown up in your car? The latter has happened to me a few times and it is truly a horrible experience that makes you question why the hell you ever thought ride share driving was a good idea. But they have nothing on what happened one night to Cody: a drunk moron from LeCompton, KS who, after commiserating about his lack of fathering skills, throws up not just in Cody’s car but ON him.
There were several other funny, cringeworthy and pathetic anecdotes. There was a much better video montage in the middle, in which passengers, upon learning of our driver’s side hustle as a comedian, delivered their stale and predictable jokes. And Cody offered some insightful and funny opinions, namely one on how 16 years olds should be allowed to be ride-share drivers.
This was a satisfying show and worth checking out.
Thanks so much Mike! I added close captioning to the intro and outro videos, they played much better at the 2nd show!
Good. I’m sure that made it better. You did a nice job, Cody.
Brilliant! Belly laughs from start to finish! Cody is a master comedian and story teller, and this show showcases his talents to the fullest.
Wonderful stories, asides, jokes and humorous approach to driving for Uber and being a lawyer. Did you know that in America, there are twice as many lawyers as there are professional drummers? Cody explains why that’s too many… of both.
See this show if you can. You’ll love it!
Appreciate your kind words Dave!
It takes a skillful comedian to make getting thrown up on hysterically funny. Cody is that comedian.
This is not your typical stand up show. In fact, Cody sits down several times during the show.
Deftly weaving storys of being a lawyer and an uber driver with his everyday experiences, Cody has crafted a multimedia production that let’s you ride along as he shares the joys of being Cody Lindenberger, Uber lawyer.
There are a few shows left this week. Support the KC Fringe Festival and one of our favorite comedians and go see the show. But you have to drive ourself there Cody won’t be available.
This was a great show. Cody is an established comedian from Lawrence. It is a one man show spliced with video from his side hustle driving Uber. There were lots of belly laughs and a Tuesday night show had a good turnout and a lively audience. Recommended.
Thanks Amy, so glad you enjoyed it!
Truly enjoyed the show.
Great show! I hurt from laughing so much. Thanks for that – I needed that. 😊
This is a crisp, polished, incredibly funny show that is essentially a stand-up special with some very humorous multimedia segments thrown in. Throughout his performance, Cody goes back and forth from hilarious observations to personal reflections that let you inside his world. He’s not afraid to be the target of his own punchlines, and is happy to clap back at the crowd in a playful way that makes the audience feel like they’re hanging out with a hilarious friend.
Kansas City, don’t miss this gem. Five stars!
This was a phenomenal one-man show that is reminiscent of John Leguizamo or Mike Berbiglia. I really enjoyed the video segments of real Uber passengers. The set was very funny and very tight. I also learned a thing or two about the gig economy.
