Jordan Allen's "Oh Look It’s Magic! A Sensory Friendly Magic Show" offers a traditional sleight-of-hand magic performance with a down-to-earth charm. While the stage setup occasionally revealed the secrets behind some tricks, Allen’s sincerity and good-natured approach made the show enjoyable. The advertised sensory-friendly aspect wasn’t clearly explained, leaving some confusion about what it entailed.
The magician’s personal touch, especially his candidness about his autism, added depth to the performance. He has a wonderful opportunity to further incorporate his personal stories, making the show more distinctive and engaging. Allen’s gimmick of acknowledging the non-Vegas budget with humor provided a refreshing twist, adding a fun element to the act.
Despite the familiar tricks and occasional technical hiccups, the show had heart. Kids in the audience particularly seemed to enjoy it. Improving the visibility of the table setup and leaning more into his unique perspective could enhance the overall experience. Allen's honest and genuine performance makes "Oh Look It’s Magic!" a show with potential, filled with moments of true magic.
