Script made no sense but actors had fun!

  2. With some polishing, this could have potential, but it’s not quite there yet. It was choppy. There were some good laughs and good acting which may have been helped with more audience participation.

  3. This was a show that I felt would have been much more enjoyable with a tighter, more polished script and a shorter running time. It features several singing performances, and to be perfectly honest, none of them advanced the story at all (although the two songs by Maggie Mulligan displayed her considerable talent to its full potential). The songs simply weren’t necessary and slowed the pace of the show. All-Star Detectives is definitely silly and there are moments when the audience participates in the story, so there is a sense of spontaneous fun. I felt that Joe Caronia stole the show as the larger-than-life character of Daddy Pop with many clever one-liners. Overall though, the story and most of the characters are too undercooked and the laughs faded quite a bit as the show dragged on.

Really enjoyed the show. Daddy Pop and Johnny were perfect. Love the silliness and the Casablanca reference.

  5. Enjoyed Daddy Pop. The rest of the show floundered a bit. It needs a lot more work . The Dick Tracy Cutout may have been the second best part. The songs seemed to be fillers to get the show to 55 minutes. Maggie Mulligan has a nice voice, her presentation didn’t quite get “Big” enough for the theater setting. A bit choppy as well.

  6. This show might be better if the script was better and the actors had rehearsed more. Some good characters, but story line lacks focus.

Frankly, it was pretty awful…but in an enjoyable way…at least when it wasn’t painful.

  8. After seeing 3 pretty awful shows this year, I was so happy I enjoyed one. The show was SO much fun! Daddy Pop and Harry had me laughing in my seat. The district attorney was loads of fun too. The story is pretty simple And easy to follow. Lots of fun room for these guys to enjoy the audience with improv and great one liners. Probably my favorite show this year at Fringe.

A great show, with audience participation. Shame it could not have gone on for another hour! If you don’t want to participate, sit against the wall, not in the front row and you will be fine! Well done cast, great job!

Not exactly sure what I just watched. It was a mess. Not the actors fault, the acting was actually good, the improvisation made the show. The lip syncing was awkward and weird, the story was as well. The transitions were too long. With that cast you could do so much more. The script just didn’t work and you didn’t use the talent to the best potential.

Great show. Fun and easy story to follow. Refreshing to hear music I actually know and like. Great cast. Daddy Poppa and Tommy were good. Fun cast and fun show.

Yes have to mention Daddy Pop. He was scary and fun.

  12. This is a hilarious show! I personally thought the music was great. I enjoyed singing along and loved being part a program that allows and encourages crowd participation. Story is easy to follow and there is a talented group of actors in this show.

Funny show. The story was lots of fun and it gave the actors room to improv and to joke with the audience. Almost all the characters were larger than life. Might go see it a second time. Long time fringer and now a Jr. All-Star Detective. What a fun time!

  14. Great show. Lots of laughs. Fun story and fantastic cast. I want a sequel.

What a fun show last night! Great cast and funny story!

  16. Had a great time watching the show and thought it was very funny! Great acting and hope there is a part 2 next year! Music was great too!

  17. Michael Foster is both handsome AND footsome. After the show he sang to me softly and I felt like a child again. 10/10, would recommend giving Michael Foster $10.

  18. Story was pretty good but the lip-syncing of the male singer twice really ruined the show. If we hadn’t wasted our time with the male lip syncer, it would have been a much better show. Daddy Pop was great!
