During the Saturday 9:30pm show, we were already impressed with the performance of the actors but they really stepped up a notch when they were left in total darkness during a brief power outage. Excellent performance!
Tons of fun. The deluge of rain on the roof was a nice addition–but the plays stood well on their own. Lovely dark humor.
This piece is a fun idea but the night I saw it Saturday 23rd. Passing was lacking and the tone is unclear.
This is what the Fringe is all about. Three talented playwrights from Kansas City (who all happen to be women) get to see their original work produced on stage, with local actors and directors to bring their words to life. Audiences turn out to cheer them on. Huzzah! (as Breakneck Julius Caesar would have us say).
Kudos to Glendora Davis, Mary Beth Gordon, and Lezlie Revelle for giving us three different takes on a fascinating theme. I thought the Fringe one-hour format was challenging, but no, the talented Potluck Productions folks fit THREE interesting stories into that limited time frame. From ghosts to revenge to murder. From marriage to betrayal to poison (ivy). A little darkness tinged with humor, twists and turns lead to satisfying endings. Two more chances to catch this show at the Unicorn.
I’ll second the previous comment. There is no other venue where shows like these can be seen. This is why I look forward to the Fringe Festival every year and often try to schedule other summer activities around it. All three plays were enjoyable. Lezlie Revelle (whom I know personally) is an extremely creative person, not only as a playwright but also as a song-writer and (not as well known) a writer of liturgy. All three plays were enjoyable, though I thought the first one lacked a real conclusion. There were lots of surprises throughout all three plays.
Three short plays connected thematically by, you guessed it, love, murder, and revenge. Each play is different in style and tone, but work well together as a cohesive unit. Musical interludes between scenes facilitate the mood while setting the stage both literally and figuratively. Overall a well put together production with a strong enjoyable theme.
This was a fun show!! There wasn’t an act that I didn’t enjoy. Great acting!
One of the best plays I have seen at Fringe this year. Great acting and writing with some awesome twists!
