   I don't understand why so many posters are so concerned with Marillo's identity. Shouldn't you be responding to his arguments? Who cares what his naanhntlity/etoiicity is? What possible difference does that make, unless you plan to discredit him if he's one ethnicity and attack if he's another?

   While I understood the point of the film, I cannot help but feel much of it was lost on me. I got the message after 20 minutes. The images were lovely, but I’m not one who can sit and flip through pictures for a half hour, but that’s essentially what was happening. I’m certain that people with a better understanding and love of film could go on and on about how well made it was (this was obvious even to me).

   Images is a well-crafted and thoughtful short film that explores themes of self-image and internet addiction. Its pace is (purposely) slow and I believe its meant to give viewers a jarring sense of what it’s like to step away from our faster-than-broadband speed-of-life for about 50 minutes. I enjoyed the first half much more as the main character discussed her compulsive need to watch image after image of various women on a website she visits every night. However, the second half of the film puts us in her head as we proceed to watch such images of women flash on the screen over and over. I got the point and the idea worked for a while, but then it became more like watching a screensaver as I waited for the story to advance. It really didn’t at that point. Is it a good film? Yes. I believe it is. Is it entertaining? I was entertained for a while and then became more and more bored and frustrated. Those with little patience will probably struggle to watch it more than I did. Perhaps that is the point, or perhaps that is simply my reaction to this film. After all, the visuals were stunning and even hypnotic at times thanks to great editing, but ultimately I felt we deserved a deeper exploration in the main character’s world off-line for a more satisfying sendoff after the credits.
