If you are looking for a good time and the chance to also get a good message check this show out!
Scott delivers an energetic performance with a fun & healing message for these troubled times. The scenes between he & Sherri Mosley are priceless!
This was a very interesting show, to be sure. It was very creative and there were moments of sheer hilarity, especially when Scott Cox and Sherri Roulette-Mosley interact in scenes together. Cox is a drugged out and deluded white man who is determined to write and star in a one-man production focussing on George Clinton and the power of funk. Everybody he encounters tries to keep him from culturally appropriating the works of the celebrated musician but his passion and delusions remain steadfast. At times, the exposition is a bit too fast-paced (and hard to hear with the sound quality) as we are taken through the history of funk music, which is a shame as Cox and Roulette-Mosley shine in their one-on-one conversations that shift between humor and profundity on the subject of white men trying to take black music and making their own. Overall, it was a trippy and creative piece that stalls through some long speeches but shines when a naive white man tries to understand why his actions are crossing over a line he isn’t even aware of.
I imagine this is very much what it is like to have an acid trip.
Learn about a forgotten musician who is often not seen as an artist. This piece is zaney, thought provoking and highly entertaining.
This play was a lot of fun. I’d rate it as one of the best I’ve seen this year. Fast paced, well developed with great comedic timing by the cast.
A self-aware psychedelic journey through time, space, and music. It’s about a 40 year old white actor embodied by the spirit of George Clinton. What more can I say? Super polished for the crazy vision which ensues and with just the right amount of inappropriateness.
Spoiler:The ending turns into a dance party so wear appropriate footwear.
This show hits every single note perfectly. It’s fun, fast-paced and funky. Pretty much all of the jokes land and the show has a great heart to it and the message, while sincere, is delivered in a light way that everyone can get behind. This is at the top of my list of shows to recommend. Scott’s performance is top notch. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
