Fun concept for the first 15 mins but it never rises above that. Learned a lot of new Yiddish words. Very polished for a fringe show.

I rate this show a two out of ten. Just did not work for me. Was not very funny for a comedy.

Amusing, but if you’re going to use Yiddish, learn to pronounce words correctly. A white bread and mayonnaise production. Ferstay?

I am late making any reviews because I didn’t know reviewing these shows was a thing. I went to twenty Fringe shows this year. Last year I went to a handful with a friend and had a great time. This year i decided to attend as many as my schedule and funds would allow. I was recommended to start by possibly picking a venue that I could see all the shows at and then pick random shows. I picked the arts asylum because i heard it was renovated recently and was a great venue. Indeed it was. That is what led me to seeing Yiddish. I thought it was a cute show. The above comments offer a different opinion which is fine but what i take issue with is the second comment left by a gentleman I’ve seen who has left a few comments now. He offers no reasoning or backing for his scoring of this show. To assign an amount of stars requires more than one sentence saying it wasn’t funny. What a shabby review. At least the other reviews highlighted specifics which support their opinion. The show was very much schtick but if you enjoy that brand of humor it was a great show. It was extremely polished…possibly the most of all the shows i seen and I seen some of the more favored shows such as respectful prostitute, devil on the wall and ella which were all extremely professionally executed. The movements, blocking and timing of Yiddish were flawless. Its fast paced and it is indeed funny.

I liked this show, but the bad pronunciation of the Yiddish words bothered me. I don’t know much Yiddish, but I could certainly recognize the botched words. I should think there are ways to learn the right pronunciation.
