It was like a Pinter play wrapped in SpongeBob Squarepants but also a demonic ritual and a poignant story of friendship, but also a beauty pageant and a DEI class for 6th graders. This is my favorite show.

I was blown away by this show! It was both laugh-out-loud hilarious and deeply moving, gut wrenching and engaging, strange and hugely relatable. You will fall in love with the characters, and you will leave with a lot to think about This is what Fringe is all about.

All over the place (in the best of ways), fun music, and brilliant physical comedy/acting by both actors involved! Bravo!

Wasn’t really sure what to expect from this one, but I was blown away! Interactive (All! Hail! Grand! Ma-CHINE!), charming, silly (I will TEAR through that fourth wall!), at times heartbreaking. Recommended to those whose Cope-Away prescriptions are out of refills…or those who got their prescription filled, and are now suffering the side effects.

I LOVED this show! I laughed a ton, but it is so much more than just silliness (don’t worry, there’s still a lot of silliness!). I’m still thinking about it the next day, I will definitely see it again!

Don’t let the genre indicator “clowning” scare you away. This is much more than that.
Frankly, I’m not a fan of clowning. It’s just not for me. I went in to this showing a little apprehensive without much guidance from the program. I’m glad to report that this show is SO much more. Our two performers immediately disarm us with their sunny and inviting welcome. They are performers after all. They must create, they must work, they are only as good as their last work. Sound familiar? This play is an instapot ready to explode with pressure! The pressure to keep working. The pressure to take any work offered to pay your bills. The pressure to play into stereotypes in order to “fit” the role. The pressure to keep overproducing and pushing to the point of burn out. Until you question why you do it at all? It made you happy once, didn’t it? Why can’t it be that simple again? Why is our worth so intertwined with our “product”?
The two performers work well with each other and you can tell they enjoy having an audience. There are giggles, lots of sugar, and a little teasing too. The lulling poetry delivered by Freddy gives the audience moments to breathe and are well placed throughout. I’m glad I attended and may reconsider my aversion to clown shows thanks to Maquinitas. Thank you!

This is my kind of theatre. Good physical storytelling work, themes that matter, sense of humor and craft. I liked it so much I’m seeing it twice. Catch it if you can!

This was nothing like I expected in the best way and I left chugging the kool aid of the gránd machine. So many unexpected laughs and gasps, I highly recommend this show!!

This was an incredibly fun and interesting show, experimental theatre at its finest. Some clowning, some spoken word/heightened language poetry, some light audience interaction, all intertwined with a social justice lens and performed with precision and prowess by two excellent actors. The Fringe Fest is made to bring shows like this to stage. Don’t miss this one.

Brilliant! Classic clown duo relationship mixed with sophisticated writing and social relevance. Goofiness, poetry, puppetry, satire, dance, audience participation…Don’t miss it!

Amazing physicality, comedy, and a poignant commentary wrapped into one cool show! I love a performance that makes me laugh, think, and sparks a conversation! Great job!

Wow! What an amazingly poignant commentary on what it means to be an artist while also exhibiting amazing artistry in the electrifying performance. I was blown away!

An unmatched duo show-de-force not meant to be overlooked. It’s your 9 year old Mexican birthday party all over again complete with balloons, clowns, and party favors. The cake you got smashed into teleported you to the future, gifting you a glimpse of the harsh reality your life awaits. It’s industrial. It’s ventriloquy, but you’re the puppet. Maquinitas is serious business.

I couldn’t take my eyes off these two for the full hour. Mouth open, hands on cheeks and then bam! This fever dream came to an end. Bravo to the two creators and leads, producer Amanda and the entire crew. I’ll be thinking about this for a couple of days and I’m all about it.

I enjoyed the audience interaction. A nice variety of different styles of theatre. They had the crowd laughing, but there is a message as well. Great job by the performers.

This was an wonderful show with a strong gravitational pull towards the characters. It’s silly and charming, but also strikes a chord with being profoundly relatable. The theatrics and crowd interactions really made this show feel magical.
