One of my very favorite comedic premises is “pretending you know a lot about a something you don’t,” and this show never disappoints! Watching talented improvisers spontaneously create hilarious, three-minute versions of Fringe shows with very little information is a real treat. I highly recommend this show, especially for other Fringe artists. Who knows…maybe you’ll get to see YOUR show!
Attended my first Fringeprov tonight & was in tears laughing. What a perfect first show to see for the 20th year of the KC Fringe Festival!
Hilarious show.
Literally, my hubby pulled out our show from the lottery draw. The improvisers did a great job. Funny, witty and over-the top. BRAVO RED TEAM. ( the whole show was fab but RED TEAM presented our show well)
This is a great show for a light fun night of theatre.
This was hilarious! What a great concept: having teams do three minute improvs on randomly chosen Fringe shows, and they did a great job. It was really funny.
This show was so very delightful!! I’ve seen a ton of improv shows. This show had consistently great improv sets from beginning to end. Excellent talent, smart choices and wonderful teamwork. This show made improv heart so very happy!
Super fun! These are some amazing performers and the premise is delightful. Can’t wait to compare the real shows to the improv counterparts. Definitely a breezy, low-pressue show to check out. Make sure you see this one!
The premise of FringeProv is fun and flirty for any member of the FringeBinge community. Two teams of improvisors compete to see who can create the best rendition of this year’s Fringe shows based on the description alone. The added stakes that each team will be judged by a critic. You may even get the chance to be the critic and let your opinion be know to more than just the moderators the the Fringe website! There is nothing quite like seeing a group of improvisors come together to create comedy onstage out of thin air. But there also is nothing quite like seeing a single improviser do it all by themselves either. To keep things fair, if an improviser has seen the show they must sit out that round. This led to one of my favorite moments of the show when Connor had to recreate his interpretation of That’s So Magically Meta all by himself. Rita, Courtney, and Meghan showed off all the names of American poets that they knew and Cameron showed off all of the names in Gulag Girls that he knew. With some polish and pep, I’m sure this show could be the niche festival improv show of our dreams. The cast for this particular show was divided up boys vs girls and much like most of the Fringe Shows in this year’s line up: the girls were the winners.
This cast did a great job adapting the other Fringe shows in so many goofy ways. They were smart, silly, and all around an absolute pleasure to watch. The competition aspect was fun since it encouraged some playful banter between the two teams and raised the stakes of each set, making this an thoroughly enjoyable show.
