Born Greg - Max Kaczor
Reviewed By Greg Harris
What would happen if your name dictated the outcome in your life? Born on March 31st in the 1990s, Max Kaczor’s mother aptly named him Greg. On April Fool’s Day, just a mere 24 hours later, his life as Greg ends when his mother realizes he should be named Max. We quickly learn that Max has a need to review his life.
Fast forward from the 1990s to the post-pandemic era as Max enters his 30s and a question keeps popping up in his head, “...what if I was Greg, not Max, would my life be different?”
Filled with fun factoids, this autobiographical performance is enjoyable and includes a few surprising situations that you must witness for yourself. At times – being a Greg myself – I was envious of a few of his accomplishments that I (Greg) have not attained. On the other hand, the not-so-enviable moments in his life and relationships leave you laughing and glad that you aren’t Max and reconsidering that maybe being Greg is just fine.
I believe audiences will enjoy Max’s introspective questioning of whether Greg would have a different socio-economic outcome, made better choices, had a different moral focus, etc. I have only scratched the surface of his performance, as Max continues to ponder the possibilities.
