That’s So Magically Meta - Rachel Fair
Reviewed By Taylor Hudson
Rachel Fair takes us to school as she dives deep into her past in “That’s So Magically Meta”, inviting the audience into the metaverse of her mind. It’s a fun and educational trip, a la “The Magic Schoolbus”, as we join Rachel’s journey to self-discovery and reconciling with her past.
We meet the metaphysical manifestations of each side of her personality from brilliant and vibrant to dark and antagonistic. These metaphorical angel and devil versions of herself are beamed onto the projection screen in high quality video and animation that Rachel interacts with throughout the performance. The performer has a sweet and bright stage presence, but at moments fails to command the attention over the impressive technical elements. Underneath the fun and kooky presentation, “That’s So Magically Meta” is the kind of soul bearing, self-exploration that is commendable and brave.
