The Spooky Sh*t Show 2 - Derek Trautwein

Reviewed By Karen Staehling

"The Spooky Sh*t Show" returns to the Kansas City Fringe Festival with even more gasps, ghouls, and giggles. This sequel delivers a fun and immersive experience, blending campy horror with over-the-top performances that had the audience laughing throughout the show.

The same gang from the original show is back, featuring a cast of eight actors bringing seven short skits to life. Two of these are reboots from the first "Spooky Sh*t Show," while the other five are brand new. The immersion element is a fantastic addition, with actors performing among the audience, making the experience feel interactive and up-close.

Jan, the host who survived the zombie apocalypse in the first show, returns, this time joined by Dan's brother, Stan. Their dynamic adds a humorous continuity for fans of the original performance. The skits vary in tone, with some leaning heavily into the spooky, complete with effective jump scares, while others are delightfully silly.

Sound effects enhance the atmosphere, making the scares and laughs even more impactful. The acting is intentionally exaggerated, fitting perfectly with the campy style of the show. Fans of cheesy horror skits and parodies will find much to enjoy here, as will those who appreciated the original "Spooky Sh*t Show."
