We went to his first show and it was such a blast! Musicbyskippy brought such fun energy and meaningful thought to the stage. We were in it through every second. 🙂
Thank you for the review! It’s very appreciated, and I’m glad you had such a wonderful time!
This show was the highlight of Fringe night 1 for me! Skippy knows how to put on an awesome show. You’ll be laughing and dancing and cheering, even if it’s 11 pm. Skippy shared a mix of singing, beatboxing, rapping, and dancing. Please support this talented artist and go to this show!
Olivia, thank you for kicking off your first day of KC Fringe 2023 with me! It was so fun to share a night of silliness and fun with you!
Thanks Skippy for sharing your super variety of music and sounds! Your music was as amazing as your stories. Thanks for sharing your fears and how you overcame them!
Hey Randy! Of course, I’m so glad you were open to all the songs and stories, as I know that’s a little atypical for a musician to do. Thanks for sharing a night together, it was a lot of fun!
I loved this show! What a blast. Musicbyskippy is an amazing one of a kind show that will have your jaw on the floor. His beatboxing skills are incredible. He interacts with the crowd and uses crowd participation!
Malcolm, thank you so much for attending! Your kind words are super appreciated 🙂

Thanks for attending Melody! Your support means the world, and I’m glad the messaging resonates with you as much as it does for me. Appreciate you, hope to see you at another show soon!
Do yourself a favor and see this show! Skippy seamlessly blends genres, such as rap and beatbox, rock, electronic, musical comedy, and pop, making this an experience that anyone can connect with. His high energy, sincerity, and vulnerability make for an evening that guarantees you will leave with a smile on your face!
Thank you for your kind words, Arthur! What a review! 🙂
My perceptions of this show are mixed. “Skippy” is very talented. He is a wonderful songwriter and talented singer. He tells stories through his music. I would have liked to see some songs from the folk genre included. “Skippy” also does some amazing sound effects just with his voice. My main problem with this show is prolonged section where “Skippy” attempts to demonstrate what the fastest speed is that he can sing a rap song. I was not impressed with this. It was overdone. He sang the same song for what seemed to be an eternity, more than a half dozen times. I could not understand a single word of that song when he sang it at his fastest speeds and I did not see how that was entertaining. With this section in the show, I can not give it more than 2/5 stars. Without this section, I would increase the rating to 4/5.
I saw this show Friday evening. Skippy is a talented songwriter and singer. He tells various stories. He uses mixed genres, but it would of been nice to include some folk songs. Beet boxing music is fun and could be mixed with a folk music slant, with a bit less of the traditional rap. Skippy involves the audience in some interactive parts. There is one “act” which I thought was overdone. He sings a rap song several times, at least a half dozen times, at a progressively faster speed. By the time he got to the last two renditions, it was impossible to understand any of the words at that speed. It also came across as boring at that point.
Hey Craig! I’m happy you were able to give me some of this feedback, especially with what in the show didn’t quite work for you. I will definitely focus on finetuning that particular rap part of the show. I did it 4 total times, but maybe cutting down to 3 will both give me more time to do more and focus on what the song’s performances are about.
Headed to Minnesota Fringe 2023, and a couple songs will likely be cut from what you heard and replaced with a couple different ones. Thanks for taking the time to write a review!
Loved the eclectic variety of this show! If you get a chance go see this talented artist. Very thoughtful way of engaging the audience while telling his story. Wish we had seen it earlier in the festival so we could recommend it to others.
