   Fantastic show. Such splendid energy from all the actors. They really brought a focus and a vision to this year’s production that was captivating from start to finish. I cannot recommend it enough. It might be a little different than anything you’ve seen and that is an incredible gift.

   I rarely see movement pieces, though I’m glad I caught Dreaming Machine. As a performer myself, I admired the performers commitment to their physicality, facial expressions, tempo, and focus. Intense emotions portrayed through solo, duo, and group numbers that each told their own story. Creative, if a bit clunky at times, use of props, costumes, and masks gave a variety of enjoyable moments to this movement piece. If you are looking for something that challenges you and invokes emotion without dialogue, I recommend this show for you!

   Very moving…it made me feel a range of emotions. Highly engaging; I recommend seeing this.
   It is quite unlike anything I have ever experienced.

   Left the show absolutely in awe. I’ve never seen a show of this type before, and The Dreaming Machine left me an huge fan of the company, artists, and show. The amount of effort, expression, and intention that was put into every act was phenomenal and incredible to see. I also loved the usage of pretty much all the props. The performers were able to encapsulate our inner emotions, the ones we don’t outwardly show to anyone. It was mesmerizing and beautiful. This Butoh show is an absolute must-see.

   Wonderful display of Butoh elements – the weird, nihilistic, agonizing. …performers contorted most admirably. I appreciate this rarely seen art form being staged – thank you, Logan Black and R. H. Wilhoit!!

   I walked into this show not knowing at all what to expect and the dance/acting was unlike anything I’d ever seen before. The movement quality of the actors was somewhere between dancing and theater and it combined to make a very emotional and raw experience. I really can’t explain this show well enough to do it justice but I would encourage everyone to see this show. Go in blind and look forward to seeing something completely new.

   Props to the actors for being so committed to their art. You are all incredibly inspiring.

   This is one of the treats of Fringing!
   When a team twice wins “Best of” awards over the years, it’s so worth discovering why.

   Twice I noticed that I briefly wasn’t breathing. This production literally took my breath away. It can be so captivating. Then they did it again for a third time!

   Moving music, striking visuals, stylish masks and makeup, primal physical movements (including several scenes with a parachute, scene where lady walks and hops with rare balance, …). The facial expressions are a masterclass in acting.

   Butoh started in Japan in the 60s. It’s now here in KC. Experiment, get out of your comfort zone, stretch, dream out loud, and just be.

   This artistic production will make you feel, and make you want to share with friends and family that the Tao of Fringe will give a lifetime of gifts.

   This show is one of those gifts.

   Have you ever seen a performance that, as a performer, made you jealous and awestruck and contemplative and wishing you were making art that made others feel the way you felt while watching it?

   I did. It was called Dreaming Machine, and it was brave and adventurous and rapturous agony to experience. A must see.

   A wonderful show. Watching the actors contort and express themselves through their face and body brought up a feeling of connection, sadness, and absolute joy. Make sure to add this to your Fringe list!

    Outstanding. One of my favorite theatre experiences of 2023. Mesmerizing storytelling, fully committed and beautiful performances, evocative lighting and sound design, wise direction. A true work of art, and thanks to KC Fringe for creating the environment for this.
