   Everything about this show is satisfying. The venue is creepy cool and it is the perfect setting for the Homecoming Queen of the Goths. Also, it is impossible to not feel something for Emily.
   She means it with every bit of her dark heart. And her book of poetry is perfectly paired with just as earnest illustrations, which she projects as she reads her poems. The visuals are hilarious! I’ll admit that I might have been an Emily in my teens, so yeah, the nostalgia itch has been scratched, but this show is going to satisfy most everyone I think. She gives us plenty of relatable moments and reasons for laughter. I love her! #EmilyKazanyforClassPrez

   This might be the best show I’ve seen at Fringe in a long time. This show is hilarious, but with a lot of heart to it. Emily encourages sending in your own goth haikus and dressing up in your best goth dress. It brought back my own time being the darkest kid in an Oklahoma high school, but in the best way.    I’ve seen many a Fringe show in my time, and “Another Year Closer To Death” will stick with me for a long time. This solo poetry performance by friendly goth girl Emily Kzany is the perfect balance of humor, heart and all things black and bleak. She shares her feelings and stories through original poetry and delightful doodly illustrations that are often funny, sometimes sad, and always entertaining. The tone never gets too heavy, but by the end of the show, you definitely feel a connection to this smart, sweet, sad, and (though she may not admit it) hopeful character. Audience members are encouraged ahead of time to submit their own original depressing haikus, and also to come dressed in their best goth attire, and I’m so glad I did (I have the prize bag to prove it). Underneath all the dark eyeliner, “Another Year Closer To Death” is a quirky celebration of what it means to be a creative outcast, and I had a great time.

   This was my first Fringe show and I had no idea what to expect. A few minutes into the performance I was captivated by this pleasant goth girl, Emily Kzany. Her poetry and illustrations are like no other that portray humor and sadness to a different level. Emily is very engaging with the audience and encourages those planning to attend the show to submit your most depressing haikus. Come dressed in your best goth attire as this is one show you won’t want to miss. I highly recommend this show!

   “Goth Talk” was alive and well with Emily’s performance.
   A true character, you either were this girl or knew her.
   This show was definitely worth checking out. I recommend her amusing book as well!

   This is probably not suited for everybody’s tastes, but as I tend to love things dark and twisted, I enjoyed watching this one-woman show that focussed on the poetic musings of a goth girl from Oklahoma. The haikus were especially funny… even the ones submitted by audience members before the show. It’s funny. It’s depressing. It’s dark and it drags a little toward the end, but all in all, a very creative and original piece that I’m glad I made time to see.
