Description:

Dear Brother, How’s jail? I’ve written a show about you, is that ok? You’re in jail so you can’t really say no.
Love from your little brother, Jon.

Renowned Australian storyteller Jon Bennett (NPR, Just For Laughs) tells the amazingly sordid and bizarre story of his brother’s life. A sometimes shocking and chaotic tale, Bennett recounts his brother’s experiences with both charismatic hilarity and heart-warming, poignant reflection.

Highly recommended! Jon Bennett connects to his relationship with his family in an inventive, moving and sometimes graphically hilarious way. He allows us into his past with personal and vulnerable details, which allowed me to reflect on my own childhood memories, and relationship with my family. A must see!

A touching and heartfelt story of addiction and recovery.
Jon takes us through his family’s life with fun yet serious message of the impact of his brother’s redemption.

Heartbreaking and Hilarious. The best show I’ve seen this festival. Wonderfully told with wit, vulgarity, warmth and nostalgia- personal and cultural. Protect your abdominal section because the belly laughs and the emotional gut punches are frequent. Mr. Bennett’s family story pleasently vears off course for unexpected twists that seem impromptu but well designed to keep the hour journey fast paced with machine gun delivery style, film and photo clips and taped audio. Perfect.

Fire in the Meth Lab should be on your Fringe list, if it isn’t already. Jon is an engaging storyteller who manages to tells a polished story and make it feel like a conversation. The show is hilarious, but also thoughtful and manages to be brave without being overly dramatic. Go see this show!

For about 45 minutes, Jon describes (with a great sense of humor) how his brother has harassed him and made his life hell. Then he gets serious and explains that he understands what addiction can do to a person. The transition from anger to compassion is startling. This was definitely a Fringe highlight.
