Description:

Infertility, miscarriage, and abortion aren’t exactly a barrel of laughs… unless you hear Mandee tell it. Standup comedian and KC Fringe’s own “2022 Best of Fringe” recipient, Mandee McKelvey, is back with a new one-woman-show that is packed with punchlines and heart where you’d least expect it. Exes & Embryos is an irreverent story that begins with one friend offering another her last frozen embryo… and ends with two women risking it all to live their dreams.

All abortion stories are valid. I’m so grateful to have heard Mandee’s. Plus, she’s VERY funny! Win-win.

This was an amazing show. Mandee made me laugh out loud and then brought me to the verge of tears during the same monologue. She had the audience in the palm of her hands from beginning to end. Above all, she told her story without preaching on the subject of abortion.

This was fabulous. It was worth it, so worth it to go. Mandee was so considered and deliberate in her retelling and examination of multiple perspectives. I could see the ver careful purposeful weaving that she did which MUST have been hard work. This show should be filmed. Go see it. Say curious.

This has easily been my favorite show of Fringe so far. Not only are the subject matters and stories that Mandee dives into incredibly captivating but she has such tremendous stage presence and an immaculate feel for storytelling through her wonderful cadence. With every story she tells, you feel a strong visualization for the journey she takes you on. This show was the perfect blend of emotional engagement and euphoric laughs. There is one 10-15 minute bit specifically that was so brilliant, I will never forget it. I strongly recommend this show to anyone attending Fringe this year. You will be engaged from start to finish.

This show was funny and poignant. Mandy’s personal story was both fun to hear and disturbing at the same time. We were impressed with the way she set up the performance as well as her delivery. A powerful and important piece of theater.

Mandee’s charm, humor, and southern style were wholly engaging. But she also left me new ways to think about the shame we all carry – and how to be my own hero. This show was good for my heart and soul.

I was impressed when I attended Mandee’s show last year, “My Left Boob,” so I knew I had to come back and see her again. Great show in so many ways – hilarious and heartfelt. I really identified with her resolve to go her own way and not listen to all the voices that were telling her what she should do. Brave and uplifting, honestly.

This show was awesome. There was laughter, tears and inspiration. While I have never had an abortion there are other parts of my life that have felt invalid. Stories that other women have shared that seem so much more valid than mine. So when Mandee shared her abortion story and expressed how invalid she felt hers was I felt that.
I felt seen and validated in that moment. Mandee validates others by telling her story. I strongly encourage people to see her show.

Thank you Mandee if you are reading this!

Handles tough topics w humor and grace!
Very funny lady and great storyteller shares profound moments, invites us to not judge, insights into transformation (hers and ours), joys that can be.

You won’t regret coming out to find out why this travelling pro from the Fringe circuit won Best of Venue last year. 15 years ago, men in comedy outnumbered women 20 to 1. She’s changing those odds (you’ll enjoy seeing why), and this show is beyond stand-up.

This is an excellent show. You wouldn’t call it knee-slapping hilarious, although parts of it were very funny, but it’s more of a wonderful bit of storytelling about a sensitive subject, without being preachy at all or trying to convey any certain message. I saw this show several days ago and find it returning to mind again and again. It’s very thought-provoking, and also quite amusing in parts.

Mandee is a very gifted story teller and she has brought another very personal story this year. This is definitely a can’t miss.

This show was just phenomenal. I was cracking up in the first half and welling up in the second. I could watch her perform for hours. It was very funny and very sweet, as well as thought-provoking.

This is the best show I have seen at Fringe for each of the past two years. Her performance and timing is perfect, and her material is both funny, sad & profound. She should be playing to huge audiences.

A great one woman show. She tells it like it is, and it’s funny!
