I believe that the world needs more frank conversations about sex and vulnerable spaces to have them, and this show delivers just that. Steve really embodied the different people whose stories he was sharing well and the performance was raw, tender, beautiful, and healing. I cried. Profound gratitude to the artist for being willing to put this content out into the world.

A tour de force. The show is the perfect balance between Steve’s personal experience and the subjects the show is the focus of. There’s a timelessness in this show that’s rare to find these days. Highly recommended.

Steve puts on a wonderful show! The frank conversation about sex and our perception of it is incredibly refreshing. Getting to explore the topic from a wide variety of viewpoints makes this show magnificent!

This show is so much more than I expected. I appreciated the honesty, vulnerability, and laughs that Steve gave us, and I believe everyone will be better for seeing it. Please come back next year too!

Fun show! If I had to offer any criticism whatsoever, I was just a little sad to see/perceive Steve seemingly poke some fun at/eyeroll about one of his subjects’ interview responses (mostly at the very end). Had he done the same for the others, maybe it wouldn’t have stood out to me as much? Still, he embodied his characters well, and it was really interesting to hear each of their experiences and thoughts on the overall subjects of sex, pleasure and companionship. Steve’s own stories especially affected me.

This show came through town last year as well, though sadly I missed them in 2022, so I don’t know if Steve continues to interview and find new personalities to share or not. If so, I’d love to see him find a nonbinary, genderqueer, or agender person so that the audience may hear things from their perspective as well.

Despite my lone critique, I give this 5 stars. Great work!

Saw the show on the Fringe website before all this started. Knew I wanted to attend. I am SO GLAD I got out of the house tonight (Tues, 07-25). Enjoyed the way Steve wove the stories between the characters and his own story throughout the show. GO THIS THIS!! Only 1 more show left.

So glad I was able to catch this show. Steve puts on a truly cathartic show. It was healing in a way to hear about each persons stories flat out. The honesty oozes out of the performance, it’s humbling and relatable too. Steve does an excellent job transitioning between characters, himself, and evening adding some fun variety to break things up with a little standup and fortune cookies! Also huge shoutout to the tight technical elements(lighting specifically) which helped the audience know which character Steve was portraying.

Looking for something fun, sexy, and refreshingly honest? Please don’t miss What They Said About Sex.

Taking a first date to Fringe? This is the show! You will speed right through those awkward early relationship conversations about the weather. Steve’s demonstration of genuine vulnerability will move you right into the complex conversations about your sexual identities.

I appreciated the skill that Steve demonstrated while presenting each of the deep characters. He used the space well and connected with the audience throughout.

My fortune cookie read “May the warm winds of heaven blow softly on your soul”. I feel like this is how Steve approacehed this work. He did it openly and warmly and in a way that left me empathizing with each character.

    Well done! 5 stars.

Steve weaves together various people’s stories about their sexual journeys beautifully. His honesty and vulnerability give a blueprint about how we could all open up and talk about our own experiences, fears, hopes, and desires.

Steve- after the show my partner looked at me and said, “I’d really like some ice cream now.” So we bought a pint of salted caramel truffle gelato on the way home.

Begins with the “Let’s Talk About Sex” song. Thoughtful and humorous storyteller Steve Budd expertly shares the depths of 4 varied lives. He’ll guide you on a journey to hear about first times, aging, opening up, feelings, discoveries, finding your angel, complexities, and that it’s not that complicated. Fun show. Will leave you thinking, and wanting a Part Two at next year’s Fringe.

I had no expectations going to the show, if I had, I’m sure I would have underestimated the performance given by Steve. The different characters’ perspectives regarding their experiences with their sexuality were well demonstrated. This show was candid, authentic, entertaining, touching, and healing. It’s a must-see there is something for everyone.

Steve is indeed a dynamic actor. As well as a master in embodying/bringing to life the story and personalities.
It’s truly a cathartic show, both humorous, Good, bad, happy, sad. I can relate to some of those “awkward” moments of personal discovery in this drama experience called life. I look at ice cream in a whole new dynamic & metaphor now.
Keep discovering and evolving as well telling those stories. It makes for good therapy.
