Elizabeth really brings the energy for this silly and heartwarming show! Even with a smaller audience, she was able to win audience participation. I highly recommend this show for history and travel nerds. Congratulations on a great opening night!
This was a fun show! It really was like being on a tour, I learned some facts that I didn’t previously know, and it was sweet (watch it to see what I mean). I got the chance to talk with Elizabeth for a bit after the show, she is wonderful!
There was singing! There was historical trivia! There were prizes! There was hijacking! There was…a love story? A play in the spirit of Fringe, the audience is convinced of being on a tour bus—I mean coach—via audio visual cues and Elizabeth’s commitment to her tour guide duties. The educational dialogue sprinkled in with spontaneous songs makes you feel like you are in an episode of The Magic School Bus. Although Ms. Frizzle never had a dream of singing in Paris—that we know of! I would love to see further development of this production to include more backing tracks for Elizabeth to sing along to. At times, her voice was overshadowed by a rushed and muddled feeling when jumping back and forth from dialogue to song. The pièce de resistance of this production features a touching series of events between Jim, the loyal bus driver—I mean coach driver– and Elizabeth. There were many unexpected moments in this production, but I was not expecting my heart to melt by the end.
