This play was very interesting, intriguing, enlightening, and entertaining. Having read Denny Dey’s introductory letter that he handed out prior to the play beginning provided some basic facts and insight into the story that Denny developed and presented. I am not a student of literature and poetry but I’m sure most all of us have either read or listened to some of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s writings. Denny’s inclusion of personal stories and artifacts used in the play made it all the more interesting. Both Denny Dey and Kevan Myers do an excellent job of portraying their respective characters and held my attention and interest for the entire duration of the play. Excellent performance by both of you!

I’ll admit this play was not on my “must see” list but it fit into my schedule and I am so glad it did! Denny Dey and Kevan Myers do a wonderful job of serving up a history lesson on Longfellow in this comedic performance. You should definitely make it a point to see this week.

Overall, Longfellow’s Guardian Angel moved quickly and was very engaging. Both actors performed so well on a stage with very few props. What a great story it was – and the audience even had a lesson on literature and poetry.
Don’t miss this genuinely creative play!!

I loved it ! Gives you history in a thought provoking, funny, uplifting way. But then, what really is history, anyway? We humans love our memories, and might need them to help us prepare for the future.

I found this play quite engaging and intriguing. I enjoyed learning more about Longfellow and his life and work. The two actors were really strong in their roles and the play skillfully designed.
    I fully recommend it.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is one of the great poets of American history, but not much read or discussed today. This show is an entertaining look at this poet and serves as a good introduction to his work, if you aren’t familiar with it. Well written and acted!

A simple set with a single chair immediately lays out that the actors will be doing all the work. Kevan and Denny did just that. A charming story unravels via a quick-witted script and meticulous staging. Both characters felt grounded and believable and you grew to love and eagerly anticipate the reappearance of quirks and callbacks. The recitation of the central poem was very moving. I have to admit, this production was not what I had judged it to be going in and I did appreciate how the ending wrapped up. Although there were a few moments in the middle that didn’t exactly find a place in the narrative, I would go “back to the moment” if this were ever given a chance for a full production!

Refreshing, witty, marvelously acted. I have a book of Longfellow’s poetry, printed around the same time as the playwright’s copy was published. Funnily enough, I don’t think I even got 5 minutes with Longfellow’s works in school, other than an independent paper I wrote on my choice of work- “Snow-Flakes.” So, though I’d heard the poem this Fringe show heavily references, I didn’t realize it was a Longfellow piece! Now I know what tome I’ll be cracking back open this weekend 🙂

This was a very intriguing show and the actors were captivating. I did not know what to expect going in, and I’m so glad I added this show to my schedule. A great story, clever writing, and thought-provoking. The delivery of the poem will have my heart forever!
    Go watch this show!!

Wonderful show that holds one’s attention. Denny and Kevan, in their respective roles, did an excellent job of allowing us to think and ponder the essence of this story. Probably, for many of us, we have no problem understanding this story. Thank you Denny and Kevan for your work. There is one more opportunity to see this show on Saturday, July 27 at 6 PM. If you can, I highly recommend you take an hour or so of your time. You will be glad that you did. REALLY, it could change your life.

A friend recommended this play and I’m so glad I saw it! Mr. Dey’s gentle, warm energy, and generosity of spirit are infectious and the messages woven into the script are simple and heart-filling. Thanks to the fine actors and script, “Longfellow’s Guardian Angel” rates a solid 5.
