Strong performances all around. The cast really meshed together especially dealing with the guy noisily eating popcorn throughout the whole show. A nice build up of emotion from the feeling out period of the new character to a strong ending.
In this drama each character manifests war differently and each actor offers a sound performance. Simone is a vulnerable teenager hiding behind bravado. Ms. Sterling is a pragmatic, cautious and cynical voice of reason. Amelia, six months pregnant, embodies what we hope every expectant mother to be – hopeful. Ferdinand, the leader of this small group, is determined, focused and resourceful. Lastly, there is Corporal Harlowe, who has retreated inward but when he speaks a sensative, traumatized soul and the horror of war is revealed in anguished poetic imagery.
Fascinating show and a truly a treat to watch! The performances were great and the subject matter was very engaging. I was especially shaken when the quiet one finally spoke. One of my favorite Fringe shows I’ve seen.
An incredibly touching and powerful story about found family. The cast was amazing together and played off each other very well. The playwright was able to capture both the struggles you face and the fact you have to find little joys in the face of adversity. All the characters were well rounded and the set looked amazing. Would recommend this show to anyone who has not had the pleasure to enjoy it yet.
