The Kansas City Canaries

City Stage at Union Station

On the biggest night of their season, the Kansas City Canaries chorus troupe is buzzing with nerves, laughter, and last-minute touch-ups. Feathers fly, tap shoes shuffle, and excitement fills the air. Until an unexpected discovery changes everything.

Hidden beneath dusty costume racks sits a stunning antique mirror, its golden frame glowing as if it’s waiting to be seen. When one curious dancer reaches out to touch it, the mirror comes alive — and in a swirl of light, the entire troupe is swept into a breathtaking adventure through time.

Suddenly, they aren’t just preparing to perform history... they’re living it.

The dancers find themselves transported across the most dazzling eras of chorus girl entertainment. From the high-kicking scandal of Parisian can-can halls, to the glittering precision lines of early Broadway, to the jazz-filled pulse of Harlem, to Hollywood soundstages, wartime USO tours, swinging 60s dance floors, and the spectacular sparkle of Las Vegas showgirls.

Each era brings new challenges, new styles, and new discoveries and along the way, the Canaries learn that being a chorus girl has never been just about perfect kicks and dazzling costumes. It’s about courage, teamwork, resilience, and the power of stepping into the spotlight together.

As the mirror finally returns them home, the dancers realize they are no longer just performers preparing for a show.

They are now part of a legacy. One that spans centuries of music, movement, and unforgettable stage magic.
