Cancer?! I Hardly Know Her! is a solo comedy show about surviving cancer—and using it as a metaphor for the toxicity that divides us. Part personal story, part wake-up call, 100% interactive. You'll laugh. You might cry. You'll definitely learn what a Fear Shredder is.
Through personal stories—a diagnosis that changed everything, meeting a drunk wrestling legend, and navigating a world obsessed with being right—comedian Jamie Campbell discovers that the antidote to living in chaos is connection. Come ready to laugh, think, and find common ground with strangers. In a world designed to keep us divided, maybe the most radical thing we can do is be kind to each other.
ABOUT THE WRITER/PERFORMER:
Based in Kansas City, Jamie Campbell is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. You may recognize him from appearances on NBC’s Chicago Fire, PopTV’s Hollywood Darlings, or the Emmy-nominated ABC series Boondoggle. Last year, he released a stand-up special through the globally recognized brand Dry Bar Comedy.
Jamie has been a major presence on the Kansas City performing arts scene for nearly a decade. In 2024 The Pitch named him the city’s “Best Stand-up Comedian” in their annual “Best of KC” issue. He is a founding member of The Bird Comedy Theater Players and performs regularly with them when he isn’t on the road. Jamie’s previous solo shows, The Devil On the Wall and Big Dad Energy each took home “Best of Fringe” honors when they premiered at this very festival.
When he isn't performing or writing, he loves to spend time with his incredible wife Jessica and their ferocious dog Millie.
This was one of the most touching live experiences I’ve ever witnessed. Jamie’s dedication to healing, love, and sharing both with the world is incredibly inspiring. There was laughter, there were tears, and so many people felt truly seen and held throughout the show. Jamie has a rare gift, and I’m so grateful I got to experience it. A huge role model and someone I deeply look up to. ❤️
What a delightful show! I loved the Joke Tree, the Fear Shredder, and of course Jaime’s standup.
Jamie takes the audience on a Mister Rogers-esque journey that is equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and deeply reflective. With warmth and authenticity, he weaves together humor, poignant moments, and family stories that encourage us to pause and think about the way we move through the world.
At a time when compassion can feel in short supply, this show serves as a beautiful reminder that “kindness is radical”. Jamie’s storytelling invites laughter, reflection, and, ultimately, hope. You’ll leave the theater with a smile on your face and a renewed belief that we all can make a meaningful difference. If you’re looking for a Fringe show that will make you laugh, touch your heart, and inspire, don’t miss this one.
The comedian has a face that invites you to laugh with him, always a mark of a great comedian. He also brought an uplifting message to speak to each other and work through our differences rather than telling at each other in defensive posture
Every second of Jamie’s show has meaning; he’s either telling a heartfelt story, cracking a quick joke, or engaging the audience with real conversation. Participation isn’t necessary, but it’s super rewarding!
Jamie’s knocked it out of the park with this one. You’ll leave feeling great, with at least a few stories still fresh in your mind.
