I enjoyed the circus performances and swordplay! This show was a lot of fun!
This is a great show with athletes who use their aerial, dance, and acrobatic skills to create a story of rival pirate groups. There was drama, action, and humor that brought the characters to life. These performers are amazing and they always present a show that’s also a story. They are true aerial artists!
I saw Circus Scorpius last year and loved it, so I was excited to see what they’d bring this time, but this one didn’t hit the same mark. The pirate premise is family-friendly (rival crews, treasure, shifting alliances) but it felt rushed, like it was put together last minute. The choreography felt stiff, and the ensemble numbers sometimes felt out of sync. Usually their timing is a lot more on beat.
It also wasn’t the strongest aerial show at KC Fringe this year.
It’s not a bad afternoon out, especially if you’ve got kids who just want pirates and acrobatics. But if you loved past shows like I did, you might walk away feeling like something’s missing.
This aerial circus show was a delight from start to finish. The fun pirate theme brought the story to life, and each aerial performance flowed seamlessly with the storyline. The performers’ enthusiasm was contagious! They looked like they were having just as much fun as the audience. Wonderfully energetic, captivating, and beautifully executed, it was an entertaining experience that kept me engaged throughout.
Wonderful show! We especially enjoyed the rope scenes and the amazing athleticism and skill!
