National Poetry Slammer Mike Shaeffer dunks chunks of bagelriffic comedy and spoken-word revelation, celebrating tall tales of whip-cracking archaeologists, musical theatre cosplay, a head-banging Muppet, a poor goldfish that keeps getting flushed in the Stephen King universe, and the greatest year in pop music...ever!
Everything Bagel has a little bit of everything! It was fun to go on a journey of pop culture references, memories and unexpected observations, led by Michael’s passionate and enthusiastic performance. Even the titles of the pieces are fun, and the printed, folded program was a great personal touch!
Michael Shaeffer‘s shows changed my view of poetry. He’s an amazing wordsmith that keeps you on your toes & laughing the whole way through
The show has a wealth of wit and heart in perfected poetic pop culture ponderings. The performance is fast paced and subject matter varied to hit the taste buds of most everyone at some point. Check it out!
Michael Shaeffer is the Gatling Gun of pop culture references, especially when it comes to the last couple decades of the last century. He sprays his audience with a barrage of fun historical reminiscence, familiar and obscure, from pop music to Sunday funnies, to movies, to teasing nocturnal misadventures… The only thing I wanted was a simultaneous collection of footnotes and bibliographies to help in riding along on that historical roller coaster.
My first Michael Shaeffer show was a solo show, a collection of haiku’s about Prince. Every show since has been just as entertaining and finally back to a solo show. Poems that will make you laugh and think, go out and see this one.
