Hidden beneath dusty costume racks sits a stunning antique mirror, its golden frame glowing as if it’s waiting to be seen. When one curious dancer reaches out to touch it, the mirror comes alive — and in a swirl of light, the entire troupe is swept into a breathtaking adventure through time.
Suddenly, they aren’t just preparing to perform history... they’re living it.
The dancers find themselves transported across the most dazzling eras of chorus girl entertainment. From the high-kicking scandal of Parisian can-can halls, to the glittering precision lines of early Broadway, to the jazz-filled pulse of Harlem, to Hollywood soundstages, wartime USO tours, swinging 60s dance floors, and the spectacular sparkle of Las Vegas showgirls.
Each era brings new challenges, new styles, and new discoveries and along the way, the Canaries learn that being a chorus girl has never been just about perfect kicks and dazzling costumes. It’s about courage, teamwork, resilience, and the power of stepping into the spotlight together.

The Canaries showed incredible talent, energy and enthusiasm. The costumes were lovely, elaborate and made a great impact in portraying the times and evolution of the dance. Totally enjoyed the show!

My first Canaries show! They had infectious energy and I loved seeing the showgirl/chorus girl styles throughout 20th C America. Really neat idea.

I have been a fan of the Kansas City Canaries for a long time and was excited to see their name on the billing for Fringe! Their show is a jaunty romp through the ages with a whirlwind of costume changes and mesmerizing steps. Each performer is clearly so invested in their craft and the joy is palpable and infectious.
