Show Description
Psalm 27 Club chronicles Logan Stacer’s journey from starving artist obsessed with joining the ranks of famous creatives before 27, to finding purpose as a starving youth pastor at 28. Spanning from his fateful first encounter with basketball in third grade through poetry slams in NYC to finding faith in Kansas City, we watch Logan grapple with fame addiction, mental health, and the collision of art and religion. Through an electrifying blend of comedy, poetry, preaching, and drama, Logan transforms the very talents he once used to chase fame into tools for serving others— delivering his testimony with raw authenticity and unexpected humor.

I will always show up for a black man coming into his own vulnerability. This multifaceted show takes you on a journey through the artist’s life. You get to walk along side him and share in his laughs (of which there are many), his tears, and his reckoning. Through his personal reflection you can’t help but see images of yourself shining back at you, asking to be embraced! I suggest everyone goes out to see it!

This solo performance examines a young artist coming to terms with his ambition. Blending poetry, monologue, stand-up, sermon, and skit, Logan’s performance immediately brings you in and doesn’t let up. Logan deftly leads the audience through several fascinating chapters of his 20s. It is funny, self-reflective, bold, and full of heart and truth. Logan the writer filled this script with wordsmithing and expertly woven themes. Logan the performer doesn’t shy away from the truths he poured out on the page.

This one man stage play was truly awesome. I also has a great message for people of any age. I would encourage everyone to sell out the seats for each night. You’ll want to go back again and again, taking someone new each time.

Psalm 27 Club is an amazingly entertaining and thought provoking performance. Stacer does a masterful job of putting the audience right in the middle of his experiences and struggles as a young adult, with humor and moments of intensity. While Logan’s journey is no doubt unique, the delivery style and vulnerability in each scene help bring the complicated perceptions described in his mind to a relatable journey for everyone in the audience. This show will spark new thoughts and discussion among anyone who watches it. My wife and I were visiting KC for the weekend and we were so glad that we chose to make Kansas City Oasis one of our stops on our trip to see Psalm 27 Club. Even after being married for 5 years, Logan’s performance inspired new reflection and dialogue between my wife and I as we also continue our own journey through young adulthood. EVERYONE can gain something from watching this show!

Logan expertly weaves together a story that is as personal as it is pervasive. He speaks to the very heart of pursuing passion. Through a combination of raw spoken-word, hilarious riffs, and unique audience connection, Logan manages to make us laugh both with him and at our collective humanity.
The production as a whole works to elevate Logan’s words through playing with color and intensity. The tech subtly creates a blank canvas that escalates as the story reaches its ultimate climax. The direction of the piece is cohesive and dynamic, without drowning out the delicacy of Logan’s performance.
This is truly masterful storytelling and an absolute must-see!

It was wonderful! I know I’m a little biased but Logan is truly a gifted writer and actor! This play he wrote about his struggles and successes was a rare thing for an actor to do! If you haven’t seen it I would recommend you do. You may possibly learn something about yourself!

Logan crafted & delivered a story that was not only, totally relatable. But, I’m sure many could see themselves in this coming of age memoir. I know I could relate with the vulnerabilities as a young, African American, in the urban core/slash parochial school alum, yearning for that big break of fame (via sports or the arts) by any means kinda necessary. Logan also took us on the journey to see failed dreams & objective. Only to discover, personal, life changing Grace. Finding his true destiny waiting for him. The lesson was life is not just about vanity and personal glory. But, much deeper. The calling to mentor a younger generation with the the same Grace & Love and lifeskills given to him (ironically through his art & athletic talents) as a vehicle of connection to up & coming wayward youth. He saw himself through the youth he now mentors & coaches!

This is so real, it’s hard to call it a performance. I was completely drawn into the story, as an artist seeking success, and a person of faith. The interaction with voicing, lighting, simple props and comedy was powerful. Very gifted. Great work!
