Show Description

2025. The year the trans and gender non-conforming communities were deemed non-existent in the United States. Two friends, Sage and Sam, have a successful podcast in which they use their platform to talk with their good friend, Jordan. They explore their identities, their histories, and their existence. When conversation gets heated, will they see that even some of their opinions conflict and the divide is further than expected? Through the lens of the gender diverse, this project brings hope and understanding to the complicated relationship between gender autonomy, United States Politics, and the expansiveness of a community labeled as “The Others”.

Fringe ASMR. The show’s naturalistic style of being presented as a podcast episode recording makes for an honest, real, and raw performance from everyone in the cast. No one is theatrical, yet the talking points and banter are down to earth and this makes it feel as though the show is an actual conversation happening in front of you, and not preaching at you. A stripped-back show that ends open-endedly—but not hopelessly—asking, what otherness is, actually?

What an incredible, conversational, moving, play – depicting what it is like to walk the world right now as someone that does not fit into a made up, box. Issues that any one can connect too, each performer was so strong and powerful with their stories. I could of sat and listened to hours more honestly. Definitely make sure to check this one out!

We had another great night of theatre tonight, this time seeing THE OTHERS, written, organized, and directed by Adriana Randall! Incredibly important, informative, and immediate. It truly felt as though I was watching a podcast being recorded in front of me. The conversation was natural and engaging. Discussed many aspects of “otherness” which was pulled directly from a series of interviews and conversations conducted by Adriana from the trans and gender non-conforming community right here in KC and the surrounding area. This project was created and delivered with such care and passion–I look forward to what other mediums this project grows into, if they choose to expand it. If anything, I’m just so grateful to have experienced THE gem of the 2025 KC Fringe Festival. There is still one more chance to see it. If you’re looking for meaningful and original theatre, look no further–go see this one.

“The Others” is a powerful and refreshingly honest play that delves into the genderqueer experience with humor, heart, and clarity. It masterfully balances laugh-out-loud moments with deeply informative and thought-provoking scenes, creating space for both connection and education. Funny, important, and beautifully done — I left the theater grateful this story was told.

I am very glad that I went to see this amazing show. It felt like we were all apart of a piece of queer magic that needed to be heard. This show was important. Well done both cast and crew.
